Dental Awareness month-Part 1

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

February is dental awareness month. While talking with Dr. David Butts of Wellspring Family Dental, we discovered a few tips to help our dental health be its best!

We all know brushing at least twice a day and closing is important, we hear that every time we go to the dentist. Minimizing sugary foods and drinks isn’t only important to our overall heath, but dental heath too. Maintaining regular checkups, twice per year, help catch things early to minimize lengthy and expensive procedures. As we age, prescription medication can effect our dental health as well. Always make sure to speak with your dentist if you’re experiencing issues.

Dental insurance is always a great benefit to include in your portfolio. Most dental policies cover 100% of preventive services. If you need further treatment, 80% is usually covered for basic services like fillings, and 50% for major services like crowns and root canals. Some dental plans have waiting periods that lower the amount they pay typically for the first 6-12 months so its important to start in advance.
